Bassist Paul Thomas has been with Good Charlotte since the early days, contributing to the rhythm section that defines the band’s energetic sound. His tenure with the band spans all their major albums, marking him as a consistent figure in the lineup. Thomas’ musicianship has been a key element in the band’s live performances and studio recordings. Outside of Good Charlotte, Paul has been involved in other musical projects, but his identity remains most closely tied to his work with the band. Rather, after twenty years of hard work, Good Charlotte have proven themselves and earned the right to do the band on their own terms. With Martin’s children’s book set for release in the fall, an opening spot on the biggest pop-star in the world’s tour and a brand new full-time fifth member, the boys from Good Charlotte indeed enjoy trying new things.
A Guide to Charlotte's Best Italian Restaurants: 2024
“We were all just hanging out one day while we were recording this record and we thought we would ask the guys to come down to the studio with us,” Martin said. We decided to let Shadows try the second verse and once we heard it, we knew we were keeping it. It’s not even a single anywhere else; it was only released in America.

For a contemporary approach to the Italian classics, try Stagioni in Myers Park. The wood-fired pizzas—like the pepperoni and sausage pie with house-made fennel sausage, roasted tomato sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni—are worth the hype. But the fresh pasta is also outstanding and come in gluten-free variations. Save room for dessert, the Zeppoli—a fried dough doused in powdered sugar served with salted caramel dipping sauce—is not to be missed. At the rustic yet refined Heirloom, farm-to-table fine dining feels familiar and friendly, not fussy.

When Chef Bruce Moffett opened this eatery in 2009, the name was a nod to the dearth of good food in the neighborhood. While that's no longer the case, Good Food is still worth a visit for its globally influenced small plates, which draw inspiration from locations as varied as Italy and Korea. Try the steamed buns, made with five-spiced rubbed pork belly, hoisin, and pickled vegetables. It had us at “cheese cloud,” a fluffy pile of fluffy Parmesan or pecorino that customers can add to pasta for $3. Restaurant power couple Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown always pay attention to the details, and their foray into Italy is no different.
I lose a lot of the clarity on the Mesa when its really bassy and heavy, but I like that. So the Bad Cat is sort of my less gainy distortion sound to make up for clarity. The second Bad Cat is just for my clean tone and that one is set with bass on 6, mids at 6, treble at about 6 or 7, then volume at 3. Vogel is currently employed by the Phoenix Suns, but should the rumor mill prove true, that may not be the case for very long. He is feeling the heat following Phoenix's own early playoff exit. If Vogel ends up available, the Lakers would be wise to go after him.

Per UK Festival Guides, their founding drummer, Aaron Escolopio, left in 2001 to join Wakefield, a band that also featured his brother Ryan. He was initially replaced by a temporary drummer named Dusty Brill (via MyCity Magazine), and when the time came to record "The Young and the Hopeless" in 2002, Brill was out and session veteran Josh Freese was in. Later in 2002, Chris Wilson arrived as the group's full-time drummer, though he left in 2005 due to health issues. Fortunately, his replacement, Dean Butterworth (pictured above), was available right away to fill in on tour (via MTV), and he's been with the band ever since.
Three Replacements For Darvin Ham as Lakers Head Coach
I think a lot of young bands, when they achieve success, everything’s awesome. But then the first moment things take a step backwards or don’t go like they think they’re going to go, they go into panic mode and start pointing fingers and placing blame and things start to crumble and fall apart. But the four of us have been together in the band for almost 20 years, and our drummer, Dean, has been in the band for 12 or 13 years now. So we’ve been through a lot of stuff together and we have a pretty tight bond. We respect each other within the band as well as outside of the band. But when we show up and get together we’re all there playing for the same reason.
A lot of bands would be ashamed, but we know that we could never play places like that on our own. The show is in the round, which is another thing we have never done before, so everything seems a little warped at times, but it has worked out great. MADDEN One thing I would say, if I can give any young artist any advice, is you’ve got to learn to follow your instincts, because that’s the only thing that’s going to guide you. There’s not an A&R guy that’s going to do it, or a producer or a label person or whoever. As an artist you have to learn to shut out the noise and follow your instincts. Because if you look outward you’re just going to end up doing something that’s inauthentic to yourself.

It’s the kind of thoughtful Mexican cuisine that’s taken a while to find a home in Charlotte. Yes, there are classic tacos, but there are short ribs in green tomatillo broth, tamarind-glazed fish, and mole, too. As seen on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, the traditional soul food and Gullah-inspired dishes fall in step with the bright, jazzy hand-painted decor. The soul roll egg rolls kick with black-eyed peas, rice, and collard greens. Whether you crave international ingredients, something spicy or comfort food that reminds you of your childhood, you’ll get your fill in Charlotte.

When Kindred first opened in Davidson in 2015, the cult-favorite dish was milk bread — pans of golden rolls based on a Japanese baking technique. It was such a hit, it became the inspiration for the Kindreds’ breakfast and brunch cafe, Milkbread, first in Davidson and now at their stylish reimagining of the classic Central Avenue Dairy Queen in Plaza Midwood. Customers can sit down at the Davidson location, while the Plaza Midwood spot is a walk-up counter with limited outdoor seating. The doughnuts and cinnamon rolls, along with the crispy chicken sandwiches, prove that Milkbread has staying power.
First, Good Charlotte appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 9, 2007, the Outdoor Stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! On April 11, and on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on April 27. Joel and Benji Madden, Good Charlotte's lead singer and guitarist respectively, co-hosted the Australian MTV Video Music Awards with Fergie on April 29, 2007 where the band also won the "Viewers Choice Australia" award for "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl". In August 2007, the band embarked on Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveShow tour, as Timberlake's opening act. Good Charlotte supported Timberlake throughout his second leg North American dates.
I thought it was so cool that this kid could play these other bands songs. Then it kind of clicked in my head that if I had a guitar, I could play these other bands songs. So that was sort of the first time I had the idea that I would want to try and play guitar. I think Silverchair gave me the idea to really want to be in a band, but Id say the first time it really hit me was when that kid came into school and played guitar in the class. As Good Charlotte documented in "Little Things," the first single off their 2000 self-titled debut album, the band's members, particularly the Madden brothers, were regularly tormented by bullies during their high school days. Benji Madden was harassed for wearing black nail polish as part of his punk-rock look, while twin brother Joel was once the victim of an especially cruel prank at the hands of some La Plata jocks.
They regularly outplayed the Nuggets for long stretches over the course of the five-game series, but faltered in crunch time nearly every game. Rapid response team chaplains are stationed right outside the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. They're hearing a lot of stories about the fallen officers, especially the department's very own Joshua Eyer. They're in Charlotte as part of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, to try to help the city heal.
Despite the name, it’s a little more grown-up and elegant but still focused on classic Italian American cuisine, with touches like a mozzarella bar with fior di latte or stracciatella, housemade pastas and parms, steaks, and broiled branzino. What is it about Philadelphia’s favorite sandwich that drives Charlotte so wild? Whatever it is, it drove partners Ryan Hart, Greg Balch, and Hannah Smith — all familiar names from other spots, including the Crunkleton — to stake their claims with a popular spot on the geographic cusp between Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth. It’s a walk-up counter with limited outdoor seating, and fans stand in long lines to grab a classic version of a Philly. Richly spiced stews, warm incense, and East African art make this Eastside spot feel like walking into a well-kempt home.
According to Chef Sam Diminch, the “seasons write the menus” at Restaurant Constance, a 10-table, no-concept restaurant. Born out of Diminch’s Your Farms Your Table Restaurant Group and named after his daughter, Restaurant Constance is highly focused on quality, local produce, and the power of connecting over a meal. Expect an evolving raw bar, inventive desserts, and a vast and creative non-alcoholic cocktail menu with your reservation. When it comes to Southern cities known for their culinary feats, Charlotte, North Carolina, is often eclipsed by its neighbor to the South, Charleston.
The band was present for the show of August 16, 2007 in Madison Square Garden, which was taped for a HBO broadcast. 2002's The Young and the Hopeless sold 4.9 million copies and thrust the band into mainstream popularity. The band's breakthrough single, titled "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", topped both pop and rock charts around the globe. Singles that were released from the album include "The Anthem", "Girls & Boys", "The Young & the Hopeless", and "Hold On".
